“A lot of alone time has let us self-reflect and grow closer," says Margo. It is about education, and what is different becomes popular.Having ventured overseas for what they thought would just be a few runway shows in February, the Whitleys essentially got stuck in France when COVID hit, and decided to make themselves at home. Everyone has a platform and can be seen and heard. “TikTok is providing so much exposure to so many different people. Maddie added: “For a bit that was embarrassing but now it is letting us share our story for the first time. Margo said: “We got so bored being locked down in Paris and so started posting videos for each other and close friends to laugh at and then it blew up.” They started creating content on TikTok during the pandemic. Our mom definitely supported that,” said Margo. “We got to experiment with fashion and make-up and hair and explore something so typically feminine. The sisters came out as trans, first to their families – Maddie at 13 and later Margo at 14 – then both more widely at 16. The boots and cowboy hats are a staple, but it's not even close to the big fashion cities like Paris.” “There isn't really a fashion scene in Texas. “It's giving athleisure,” Maddie said of Houston. They think fashion in European cities is more diverse than their hometown. Known as one of the most progessive agencies – they don't have specific boards for plus-size models, for example – it's run by John Bruce, star of Channel 4's The Model Agency. The twins were signed by London model agency PRM () in February 2020. It taught us a lot and gave us a thick skin which is helpful for an industry like this.” Maddie said: “Texas is really conservative and closed-minded and we didn't really fit in. Speaking from Milan, the twins reflect on how far they've come, having grown up in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. “All of the other trans people we know in fashion are white, able-bodied, thin, cis-passing women. “Beyond casting more diverse models, behind the scenes needs to be more diverse,” said Margo. Newer designers are coming out all the time and listening to, and working with, pop culture.”īut she believes there's still work to be done. “We are catching up with the runway now, but some houses are outdated with it. “TikTok and Gen Z are getting more and more experimental breaking down the boundary,” Margo said. The pair are popular on TikTok, with 432k followers between them, and say the social media platform helps increase trans visability. The clothes were so cute and it felt so young and fun and applicable to real fashion.” She described designer David Koma as “so cool”. London is huge and the tube is a nightmare,” Margo said. We have never been able to run around London. They both walked at the David Koma show at London Fashion Week, Margo walked for Erdem and Madelyn for Yuhan Wang. It normalises it and inspires people – inspiring trans kids to be themselves or getting into fashion.” “It gives exposure to trans people just being themselves and doing their jobs. Margo said seeing trans models like them “brings awareness to trans people just existing – and not just talking about trans issues. This is reflected in the wider fashion industry, with major brands like Gucci and Prada combining their male and female collections into one show. “In my circle and on the runway everything is blending together whatever you want to do, you can,” Madelyn, known as Maddie, said. The 22-year-olds made an impact at London Fashion Week and getting ready to walk at Milan Fashion Week next. Madelyn and Margo Whitley – twin sisters and both transgender women – say gendered fashion is on its way out. What we need instead is what Event Calendar App calls the 'Direct URL. Slightly confusingly, we don't need the embed code for notion. It will take you to a tab that looks like this: To add the widget to notion, click on Embed Instructions on the left. Here's the end result after I added some images to my events: The great thing about Event Calendar App is that it really gives you everything to make your events look great. This will bring all your Google events into Event Calendar App. On the left hand side you will see the 'Event Sources' tab, click this and select the ICS feed of your Google events that you added earlier. This will take you into the widget editor. Head back to the dashboard homepage and click new widget Good, that means ECA is now aware of your Google calendar. You should now see your ICS feed in the dropdown above: You will then see the option to connect an ICS feed.Ĭlick connect and add the details for the ics (google calls this an ical feed) feed that we got earlier. In ECA, select 'Calendar Sync' in the left hand menu: This time, look for the option that says 'Public address in ical format'. Head back to your Google calendar, right click the calendar you want to add again and click settings and sharing: We first need to plug our Google events into ECA. Once you've followed the onboarding you'll come to the dashboard page that looks like this: Head to Event Calendar App and create an account. Let's have a deeper look at how we would embed Event Calendar App in Notion. You can choose a bunch of different colours, styles, add images, filters and all sorts of things.Įvent Calendar App also lets you combine feeds from multiple calendars and display them in a single widget. It's also something of a small travesty to be using software as beautiful as Notion and then adding the Google calendar embed to it.Įvent Calendar App lets you create beautiful calendar embeds. Using the Google calendar widget you would need to embed two completely separate widgets. For example, you might have a company page in Notion where you want to display your personal events, but also your public company events. There's also very little room for customisation.Ī big limitation is the fact that you can't display events from two different calendars inside one widget. Hmmm.as you may have noticed it works but it's a little ugly. That's it, you have successfully added Google Calendar to your notion page. Once you click embed link you will see a Google calendar on your Notion page that looks something like this: Paste the Google Calendar public url into this, and then click Embed Link. Once you click that, Notion will ask you for a embed link. The embed block allows to add widgets from other websites, in this case the Google Calendar widget. Click anywhere on a page, click the + icon to add a block, scroll all the way down and find the embed option: Now you've got the embed code, head back to Notion. The section labelled 'Public URL to this calendar' is what we want. However, scroll down until you get to the 'integrate calendar' section. This next page contains a lot of information. It looks like this:Ĭhoose the calendar that you would like to embed, right click it and click settings and sharing. On the left hand side you will see the 'My calendars' section. There's a lot of limitations to this, but we'll get to that later. You can use this to embed your Google calendar on different websites. There's two main options when it comes to embedding Google calendar inside notion: zip file just downloaded to your computer. The font will download to your computer. Just click “OK.” If you get a couple more window pop-ups, just continue clicking “Yes” and “OK.” You will probably get an “Add Download” window pop up. Once you find the perfect font, click “download.” I chose the font “Rhyder Regular.” Go to one of these websites, and sift through your many options. And, the best part is, it’s free! In three quick steps, you’ll have a brand new font to play around with.įree fonts are available on many websites, but here are three websites that are free, safe, and easy to use: Don’t worry if you have never installed a font on your computer before, it’s easy. If you need to create a flyer or a Christmas card or anything else and you just can’t find the font you’re looking for on your computer, try installing a new one. (Actually, for the sanity of all visually-conscious people, PLEASE don’t use Papyrus any more! Or Comic Sans, for that matter.) After all, just how much longer can you get away with using Papyrus as your go-to font for flyers? Hence why I’ve included this great fan into our 12V caravan fan list.If you haven’t yet delved into the wonderful world of fonts, now is a great time! All computers these days come pre-loaded with several dozen typefaces, but sometimes that pre-packaged collection just isn’t enough. Ryobi also sells a 12V battery charger meaning you never need 240V mains power to recharge your batteries. You’re probably wondering why I included an 18V caravan fan in this review…ĭepending on which battery you use and what speed you set it at, the Ryobi Misting fan can run for up to 16 hours. It’s not too noisy either, with sound levels not exceeding 60db on the highest fan speed. Thankfully, you can opt to switch off the water pump so you can use it as an indoor fan if you wish and, in this respect, it moves huge volumes of air. You need to be aware that the mist will render any items sitting within range of the fan rather damp so you need to keep electrical equipment out of the area. The Ryobi Misting Fan is unbelievably effective and can cool the area under your awning even on the hottest day. It then sprays the water in a fine mist into the airflow from the fan, cooling the area down. It is designed to sit on top of a standard 20-litre bucket and has a pump that draws water from either the bucket or from a hose connection. The Ryobi Misting Fan is a brilliant piece of kit. If you have the Ryobi One+ power tools, you’re in for a real treat. These are excellent fans that are designed to be used in workshops which makes them quite suitable for caravanning and camping. If you have a set of rechargeable battery-powered tools, there’s a very good chance that you can purchase a portable fan that uses the same battery. To give you somewhere to start, check out these three 12V caravan fans that are not only energy-efficient but actually work and will make your free camping experience much more comfortable this summer. Three 12V portable fans to keep your caravan cool That may not seem like a lot but when you take into account the power consumption of all your other 12V devices, it adds up very quickly. If that fan is left to run overnight for 10 hours, it will draw 10 amp hours from your battery or 10% of a 100 amp hour battery. When it comes to free camping, the lower the current draw, the better.Ī fan that draws 1 amp (or 1 amp per hour) can be powered from a 100 amp hour battery for (theoretically) 100 hours. This will typically be listed in the product specifications and described in amps. When looking for a 12V fan or cooling device for your caravan to use when free camping, it’s important to know its power consumption or how much current it draws. But first, let’s discuss power consumption of 12V caravan fans The sound of the old harps would ring for a long time so, sometimes the strings were stopped to provide clarity of tone and to avoid muddying fast passages. The upper strings, often a thin steel wire, had a sweet tinkling sound. These harps had a loud, full, rich, bell-like sound. The old harps were strung with thick brass wire and plucked with long, crooked fingernails which resembled quills. Today, harps are held against the right shoulder and the hands' playing positions are reversed. They were traditionally held against the left shoulder, the left hand playing the upper strings and the right hand, the lower strings. Old Celtic harps were played with a different technique than used today for pedal harps. Chiefs and kings added fancy gold and silver ornamentation and jewels and often created priceless treasures. All Gaelic peoples liked to decorate their harps with intricate carving and crystals. His harp was often heavily decorated and highly revered. In Ireland, the harpers were consulted before going to war and often lead the troops to battle with harp and sword, singing of victory and slaying his share of the enemy. These benefits were not inherited by their children but went to the best harper. In ancient times, harpers were the counselors of kings and were given the chair of honor, titles and wealth for their services. Recently, however, the wire strung harp has been rediscovered. Today, some class it as a folk instrument because the original methods of building and playing it were lost during extended political turmoil in Ireland and there has been little general interest in it for years. In ancient times, the wire strung harp was an instrument of the aristocratic class as well as the most loved instrument of the Irish people. Modern coins depict the fourteenth century Trinity College harp. History often repeats itself and a resurgence of the Irish harp seems to be occurring right now.įor several hundred years, since Henry VIII, the Irish have used a harp as their emblem. Fascinated with all the varieties of small harp, I learned to play a Gaelic harp, eventually joined an Irish Ceili band and learned of the interesting history surrounding the old harps, their disappearance and recent revival. My first sight of the Irish harp occurred at Lark In The Morning. When I came to work for Lark In The Morning, my knowledge of music was superficial but included one semester of pedal harp. Today the harp has an aura of mystery because the average person has never seen a real pedal harp except at the symphony and has never heard of an Irish harp. It is said the music heard in heaven is the golden sound of harps. if you don't need coverage and wants the "no oil" feel? use this alone!.I find it a bit hard to choose shades though as the powders look almost invisible on most! You can buy a VSC at any point in time, as long as your car is eligible. Our standard advice is to do your research on a variety of “extended warranty” providers and weigh the pros and cons of buying one versus not having one. While these are similar to the warranty that comes with a new car when you buy it at the dealership, because it’s offered by a third-party vendor, it is not technically a “warranty”.Įxtended warranties are a hotly debated topic in the car-buying world (in part because we’ve all been bombarded with phone calls trying to sell us on them). An example is a solution of salt water: the salt (sodium chloride) can be separated from the water by evaporation. A molecule may therefore be an element or compound that is covalently bonded.Ī mixture is substance made up of any combination of elements or compounds that are not chemically bonded together and may, in general, be separated by physical processes (such as distillation or filtration) into its constituent elements or compounds.
